Costa Rica

The piece featured here is an extension of a photograph taken during a trip to Costa Rica.
The restaurant's rustic charm can be seen on
the detail of the walls and the building columns.
Photo Extension from the edges of the original photograph allow for the addition of the plant at the bottom, the entire waiter's body and the arch cross-way to the right, as well as the view of the volcano through the half-moon window on the background. Which was actually erupting the day this photo was taken.
The marriage of photography and watercolors creates a wonderland of imagination reaching far beyond photoshop!

A word by The Artist;
The artistic expression I call "Photo Extension" is a combination of photography and watercolor. By placing a photograph on watercolor paper and painting beyond the edges of that realism, fantasy can take hold. The background emerges as dream possibilities, as colorful connections between two or more photographs, or as a simplified surround. This truly unique art form allows you to express
one-of -a-kind personalized memories.
We were asked by a neighbor to touch up the only picture he had of his late father. Shown here on the bottom left.
The challenge was to try and re-create the right and left arms as well as part of the right leg of his late father's image.
He mentioned that his father loved the green lush view and sunsets from his farmhouse porch, which the artist tried to capture here.
The satisfaction we received was not the monetary compensation for the time and effort the artist invested on this piece, but the overjoyed look on my neighbor's face when he first laid eyes on the framed artwork.
